Job Description
Our client is a leading and well-established company specializing in infrastructure services. The Senior Legal Specialist provides strategic legal advice and support to management on a wide range of matters, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, financing, regulatory compliance, and corporate secretarial practices.
Responsibilities:
- Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of legal documents, including project contracts, financial agreements, commercial arrangements, NDAs, service agreements, construction contracts, and security documents.
- Conduct legal analysis to identify risks, provide mitigation strategies, and propose business-friendly solutions.
- Lead or support contract negotiations and closings, liaising effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Oversee compliance with contractual, regulatory, and legal obligations.
- Develop, update, and implement legal templates, policies, and frameworks aligned with business objectives and legal requirements.
- Manage and resolve disputes, claims, and legal proceedings to achieve favourable outcomes while controlling costs.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external counsels, monitoring the quality and cost of external legal services.
- Handle ad hoc legal matters and assignments as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent; admitted to practice law in Malaysia.
- Minimum 7-8 years of legal experience, preferably with a mix of private practice and in-house roles.
- Strong expertise in corporate and commercial law, with exposure to M&A, project contracts, and financial agreements.
- Proven experience managing external counsels and handling complex legal matters independently.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to balance legal risks with practical business considerations in a fast-paced environment.
