Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to lead and grow sales operations within the assigned region. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales performance, managing distributor networks, developing high-performing sales teams, and executing strategic initiatives to achieve business objectives. This role requires strong leadership, distributor management expertise, and a solid understanding of the FMCG industry.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the establishment and onboarding of new distributors, including regional distributors and their sales organizations.
  • Drive sales growth and achieve assigned regional sales targets.
  • Manage product ordering and coordinate shipments to ensure adequate supply based on regional demand.
  • Conduct regular business reviews and market visits with distributors to evaluate sales performance and provide market feedback.
  • Work closely with distributor teams to secure product listings and annual agreements with key retail accounts.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of distributor sales teams, providing coaching and guidance to improve results.
  • Develop and implement regional sales action plans aligned with company strategies and objectives.
  • Deliver monthly and annual sales targets in both volume and value.
  • Oversee distributor operations, including sales execution, business opportunities, collections, and category strategy implementation.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and supply-demand dynamics to identify growth opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key retailers and business partners.
  • Ensure distributor KPIs are achieved and inventory levels are maintained according to agreed requirements.
  • Lead, train, mentor, and develop direct and indirect sales teams to build a high-performing organization.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture through continuous coaching, support, and people development.
  • Take overall responsibility for team performance and regional business results.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the FMCG industry within Malaysia.
  • Proven experience in distributor management and regional sales operations.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer relationship management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Demonstrated leadership and people management capabilities.
