Job Summary

Our client is a well-established multinational FMCG company with a strong presence across global markets and a portfolio of leading household and personal care brands. They are seeking an experienced Regional Sales Manager to drive sales growth, strengthen distribution, and lead distributor operations within the assigned region in Malaysia.

 

This role is ideal for a results-driven sales leader with solid FMCG experience, strong distributor management capabilities, and a proven track record of developing high-performing teams while delivering commercial objectives.

 

Job Responsibilities

 

Business Growth & Sales Management

  • Drive regional sales growth by expanding both numeric and weighted distribution while ensuring the right product assortment across retail outlets.
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen relationships with key distributors, retailers, and trade partners.
  • Lead and oversee the day-to-day sales operations within the assigned region.
  • Ensure effective inventory planning, product ordering, and supply availability based on regional demand.
  • Conduct regular market, branch, and outlet visits to monitor sales performance, gather market insights, and provide coaching to distributor teams.
  • Manage distributor performance to achieve product listings, execute annual business plans, and strengthen retailer partnerships.
  • Develop and implement regional sales strategies and action plans aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Monitor sales opportunities, collections, category execution, and distributor operational performance.
  • Manage regional sales budgets and ensure all expenditures comply with company policies.
  • Support financial operations by ensuring timely submission and processing of distributor claims.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, consumer demand, and economic developments to identify business opportunities and potential risks.

 

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop both direct and indirect sales teams to achieve business objectives.
  • Build and maintain a high-performing sales organisation through effective recruitment, engagement, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and performance-driven team culture.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to distributor sales teams to enhance execution excellence.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of sales experience within the FMCG industry in Malaysia.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a people management or managerial role.
  • Experience managing distributors and traditional trade channels is highly preferred.
  • Prior experience in the baby diaper category (minimum 2 years) will be an added advantage.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team development capabilities.
  • Excellent relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Able to work independently in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with frequent field travel.
