Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical, business-focused legal advice to internal stakeholders, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies.
  • Support the implementation of legal and compliance frameworks across the organisation, including areas such as anti-bribery, AML, data protection, sanctions, and export controls where applicable.
  • Monitor relevant regulatory developments and advise the business on potential impact and necessary actions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor contracts, customer agreements, NDAs, and partnership arrangements.
  • Provide legal support for business initiatives, including commercial projects, joint ventures, and operational expansions.
  • Manage contract lifecycle processes and ensure standardisation of legal templates, policies, and documentation.
  • Support dispute resolution matters, including coordination with external counsel where required, to ensure efficient and cost-effective outcomes.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and ensure quality, timely, and commercially sound legal support.
  • Ensure appropriate risk identification and mitigation in all business and contractual arrangements.
  • Promote awareness of legal and compliance requirements across business functions and support a strong culture of integrity and accountability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or equivalent; called to the Malaysian Bar or qualified to practise in Malaysia.
  • Minimum 8–10 years of legal experience, ideally with a combination of in-house and/or private practice exposure.
  • Strong grounding in corporate and commercial law, with experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts.
  • Exposure to M&A, project-related contracts (e.g. EPC), or financial agreements will be an added advantage.
  • Experience working with external counsel and managing legal matters independently.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide practical, solution-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.
