Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Legal Manager (HOD) to lead the legal team across the company’s various businesses and to support the company’s growth objectives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role working hand-in-hand with the top management in making sound business decisions from the legal perspective.

Job Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze a wide range of documents across the Group of Companies, ensuring legal compliance and strategic alignment.
  • Provide comprehensive and strategic legal counsel to the Board/EXCO and Management, guiding decision-making processes.
  • Lead and manage legal due diligence processes for acquisitions, transactions, and projects, ensuring thorough evaluation and risk assessment.
  • Draft, vet, and negotiate agreements, contracts, and other legal documents, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with commercial objectives.
  • Evaluate and assess contentious matters, providing timely and informed legal advice and guidance.
  • Coordinate closely with external solicitors, overseeing legal representation and ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Conduct interviews with potential witnesses and review cause papers, ensuring legal strategies are robust and effective.
  • Provide legal support and guidance to the HR team on Industrial Relations matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Secretarial Department on corporate exercises and initiatives, ensuring legal requirements are met.
  • Champion and ensure compliance with Safety and Health procedures, promoting a culture of safety and wellbeing across the organization.

Job Requirements

  • 10+ years of progressive legal experience, with a strong background in corporate law, litigation, employment law, and governance.
  • LLB (Hons) degree from a reputable institution and admission to the Malaysia Bar as an Advocate & Solicitor.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and lead a legal team.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate at all levels of the organization.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align legal strategies with business objectives and drive results.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on driving performance and achieving objectives.
