Job Description

Our client is a leading organisation in the Data Center sector, looking for an experienced Energy Marshall to join their team.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and enforce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures across all site activities.
  • Coordinate between construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure safe energization and de-energization works.
  • Review and approve energy isolation plans, switching procedures, and Permit-to-Work (PTW).
  • Ensure all electrical energization activities comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) guidelines and Malaysian regulations.
  • Oversee both electrical and mechanical isolation to ensure safe execution of works.
  • Plan and manage energy sequencing and energization activities, which is a critical responsibility of the role.
  • Conduct site inspections and enforce safety compliance, including stopping unsafe work when required.
  • Support commissioning activities and validate electrical and mechanical system readiness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including switching logs, permits, isolation records, and audit documentation.
  • Provide timely reporting on progress, risks, and safety issues.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Chargeman A4 certification is required.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in electrical safety, commissioning, energy management, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) regulations and electrical switching procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of LOTO, Permit-to-Work (PTW), and energy isolation procedures.
  • Proven experience in energy planning, sequencing, and energization activities.
  • Good understanding of both electrical and mechanical isolation and safe work practices.
  • Familiarity with LV/MV/HV electrical distribution systems, HVAC, UPS, switchgear, and BMS.
  • Ability to read and interpret single-line diagrams (SLDs) and technical drawings.
  • Experience in data centres, industrial plants, or other mission-critical environments is an advantage.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across construction, commissioning, and operations teams.
  • Strong safety mindset, with the confidence and authority to enforce safety requirements and stop unsafe work when necessary.
  • Good communication, reporting, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
